Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Calorie Calculator (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit caloriecalculator-free.com (“the Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. We care about your privacy and only collect what we need to run and improve the Site.

The short version

We do not store the numbers you enter into our calculators. Your age, height, weight, and similar inputs are processed in your browser to show your results and are not sent to or saved on our servers. Like most websites, we do use cookies and third-party services (Google Analytics and Google AdSense) to understand traffic and to fund the Site with advertising. Details are below.

1. Calculator inputs stay on your device

Our calculators run entirely in your browser (client-side). The details you type in — such as age, sex, height, weight, body-fat percentage, or activity level — are used only to calculate your results on your device. We do not transmit, collect, sell, or store these inputs. If you close or refresh the page, they are gone unless your browser has locally saved a preference you chose to keep.

2. Information we collect automatically

When you visit the Site, our hosting and analytics providers automatically receive standard technical information that your browser sends, known as log data. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, the pages you view, referring pages, and the date, time, and duration of your visit. We use this information in aggregate to keep the Site secure and to understand how it is used. We do not use it to directly identify you, but some technical identifiers — such as IP addresses and cookie IDs — may constitute personal data under applicable laws such as the GDPR, and we handle them accordingly.

3. Cookies and local storage

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device; local storage is a similar browser mechanism. We use them for a few purposes:

• Essential — to make the Site work properly and remember basic choices such as your unit preference (e.g., US or metric). These cookies are not used for advertising or to directly identify you by name.
• Analytics — to count visits and understand which pages are useful, via Google Analytics (see below).
• Advertising — set by Google AdSense to serve ads and measure their performance (see below).

You can accept or refuse cookies through your browser settings and delete cookies and local-storage data at any time. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work. Where the law requires it (for example, in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before setting non-essential (analytics and advertising) cookies.

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4), a service provided by Google, to collect standard log information and aggregate details of visitor behavior — for example, how many people visit, which pages are most popular, and how visitors move through the Site. This helps us improve the content and layout. Google Analytics uses cookies, and the information is processed in a way that does not directly identify individuals.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

5. Advertising and Google AdSense

The Site is free to use and is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads and do not currently use any other advertising network. Google and its ad-technology partners use cookies and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect fraud — even where ads are not personalized. Depending on our AdSense configuration and your location, the ads you see may be personalized (interest-based) or limited to non-personalized (content-based) ads. Where the law requires consent for advertising cookies, we ask for it before those cookies are set. If our advertising setup changes, we will update this policy.

6. How we use information and our legal bases

We use the information above to operate, maintain, and secure the Site; to understand and improve how it is used; to display advertising that keeps the Site free; and to respond to you if you contact us. We do not sell your personal information. Where data-protection law such as the EU/UK GDPR applies, the legal basis depends on the activity:

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that already took place. Where the Site shows a cookie-consent banner or a “Cookie Settings” (Privacy Choices) control, you can use it to give or withdraw consent. You can also refuse or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.

7. Contact form and email

If you email us or use our contact form, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and message — so we can read and respond to your query. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in handling your request, or taking steps at your request. Because our email is hosted by Google (Gmail), your message is processed by Google as part of that service. We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterward (see retention below).

8. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data only with the providers that help us run the Site — principally our hosting provider, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and our email provider (Google) — each acting on our behalf or under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, for example to comply with a valid legal request, or to protect our rights, our users, or the security of the Site.

9. Data retention

Because calculator inputs are not collected, there is nothing for us to retain from them. For other data, we keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above. Typical periods are:

• Server / access logs: generally retained for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting.
• Google Analytics data: user- and event-level data is retained for the period set in Google Analytics (either 2 or 14 months); this setting does not affect standard aggregated reports.
• Email / contact correspondence: kept while we handle your query and generally for up to 24 months afterward.
• Consent and cookie-preference records: kept for up to 12 months, after which we ask again.
• Cookies and local storage: each item has its own lifespan (from a single session up to about 24 months); local storage stays until you clear it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict its use, to object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. To protect your privacy, we may ask for information to verify your identity before we act. Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we generally respond within one month (extendable for complex requests where the law allows); other legally required response periods may apply depending on your location. Exercising these rights is free, and we will not treat you differently for doing so. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your local data-protection authority — in the EEA/UK, that is your national supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. You can still use the advertising opt-out tools above to manage advertising cookies.

11. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Links to other sites

The Site contains links to third-party websites and displays third-party ads. This Privacy Policy does not cover how those third parties handle your information. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit.

13. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled through the Site. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. International visitors

The Site can be accessed from around the world, and our providers (such as Google) may process data on servers in other countries, including the United States. Where required, international transfers of personal data are subject to appropriate contractual safeguards. Our providers describe the safeguards they use for international data transfers in their respective privacy policies and data-processing terms.
